Enhancing early learning experiences with the Healthy Children Enrichment Program

Delivering exceptional education across our community of centres is at the heart of all that we do. Our Enrichment Program includes either regular extracurricular experiences or special events and is an important approach to help stretch children’s thinking and experiences beyond the everyday. They offer a rich, intentional approach to broadening children’s experiences and understanding of the world around them.

What is the Healthy Children Enrichment Program?

Part of the establishment of this approach to our Healthy Children Enrichment Program is to see more of our own educators across Townsville delivering extracurricular experiences that provide a highly visible ‘value add’ for children and families and to ensure more children have access to these simple, fun and impactful programs than we can deliver exclusively without relying on external providers.

"Research shows the first five years of your child's life are the most important. Our lifelong learning approach will support your child to develop emotionally, socially, physically and academically, no matter what age they begin with us, to ensure they develop a lifelong love of learning. Together, we can help your child reach their full potential." Dr Lesley Jones, Head of Pedagogy, Education and Practice at Affinity Education Group.

What enrichment experiences will my child benefit from?

We have invested in the development of a range of professional development and resources to support our educators in delivering simple programs such as physical movement, dance, music, Yoga, STEM and language programs across their Centres. This program will continue to evolve and increase as we find more expert partners to help us develop the types of programs, we want our children to have access to and for our educators to have the skills to deliver them with confidence and skill.

Our centre has a strong focus on community and environmental practices.  We have embedded learning experiences enabling children to care for their world and their wellbeing.  Our programs include sustainable practices, caring for their world and their environment through produce areas, worm farms, composting and centre pets.  Our other programs include language lessons using the talent and cultures within our centre community.  These include Japanese, Portuguese and Filipino delivered by three of our amazing educators.  We currently have three educators that also deliver sports and yoga programs.
